Sometimes as a mom, a wife, and a business owner, it's easy to get caught up in the “busy” of everyday life.  It's so easy to forget that there's a whole world outside of your little circle of living.  Once Corona calmed down a bit, my family and I decided to take a weekend getaway to unplug.  It was a perfect little trip to get our minds off of everything going on back home.  It didn't matter where we went or what we did, as long as we were doing it together as a family it would be time well spent!

We visited several plantation homes and viewed beautiful scenery in the Saint Francisville area.  I was inspired to paint "Rosedown Plantation" to add to Lou and Elle’s Louisiana Collection.  Plantation homes are prominent in Louisiana and a distinct representation of southern history and culture.

Although the visited plantations and landscape pictures are beautiful, they could never quite capture the special times we had as a family.  My oldest daughter is graduating high school in a couple of years, and my youngest’s last year of elementary school.  Time really does fly, and it’s days like these that you can never get back.  I'm learning to cherish the moments I get with my family as if it would be my last.  Not like, my last-last.  But really... I'll never have Aubri as a '9' year old again.  I'll never have '16' year old Lexi again. “Forgive Quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that made you smile.” -Audrey Hepburn.  I think this quote says it best and perfectly demonstrates how we should embrace life.  Don't ever get too caught up in the demands of life that you forget about the important things like family and friends.  This trip was a healthy reminder to keep first things first.  And if you're like me, I need plenty of reminders.  Find moments.  Cherish them.  Embrace the important things.
